Robert McKellar, Director and Engagement Manager
Robert's interest in political risk stems from his childhood in Iran, when his family lived through part of the
revolution and had to evacuate in early 1979.
Robert has an MA in Political Science, specialising in international affairs and conflict. He also holds a Master of
International Business, with a focus on emerging market growth strategy.
Robert worked as an international strategy consultant before focusing on emerging market risk. His political risk
management experience spans the private, NGO and public sectors, and ranges from conventional business risk
assessments and planning exercises, to policy design, training, and security sector reform.
Robert has travelled and operated extensively in the MENA and other developing regions, including the Caucasus
and Afghanistan. He studied Arabic in Tunis for a year, and is proficient in French, with intermediate Arabic and
beginner's Turkish.
